The Best Time to Smoke Weed: And When to Smoke a Particular Strain

If you ask me the best time to smoke weed is ANY chance you get!

Cause, you know, getting high is the bee's knees and all.

Sure, there are plenty of things you need to do out there that require you have a clear head, and I won’t fail to mention that cannabis affects everybody differently.

You know your body best, so you’ll know when it will be a good idea to smoke and when it will be a good idea to hold off on it.

Plus, another HUGE factor:

The strain you are smoking! This plays a key role in determining if it’s the right time to smoke or not.

When to Smoke Weed

  • Wake n Bake

Smoking first thing in the morning can be a great way to start off your day.

However, you don’t want to overdo it!

Smoking too much, or the wrong strain can send you right back to bed.

A few good puffs, though, will do wonders for anxiety and your confidence.

It can also really help calm your mind during a little bit of morning meditation or self-reflecting in the morning.

  • Before Bed

I have talked with some people that this has the opposite effect on.

I’d venture to say, though, that the majority of us—when we get too high—can find ourselves in a deep sleep before we know it.

Not just any sleep either, a DEEP sleep.

Smoking an indica strain before bed extends the time in deep sleep and shortens the time spent in REM sleep—where your dreams occur.

  • Before Sex

It makes everything better. It makes food taste better, makes music better, makes sex feel better for God's sake.” - Pineapple Express

Studies have shown that THC can lead to increased arousal in women.

Your body naturally produces a hormone called Oxytocin after sex.

This hormone—known as the bonding hormone—is also triggered by cannabis.

This extra release of Oxytocin can lead to finding a new level of closeness with your sex partner.

  • Before Eating

I don’t think I need to provide any scientific proof that food tastes WAY better when you’re stoned.

It just does.

So smoking a bowl before sitting down for a nice bowl of Japanese-style ramen hits the spot.

  • Before Something Stressful

Anxiety and stress can be crippling.

Studies have shown cannabinoids do be directly linked to reducing anxiety.

If you have something that’s eating at you—like a divorce, death in the family or loss of a job—then smoking can be great to help calm your nerves.

When smoking to relieve stress or anxiety, you’ll want to go with a Sativa strain like Mako Haze.

Also, you don’t want to go overboard, but rather a nice microdose just to take the edge off.

  • After Work

Cannabinoids are known to relieve both stress and anxiety, which make them perfect for leaving your work troubles at the office.

There’s no better way to unwind than to get home, load a bowl of your finest herbs and smoke your boss's name out of your memories.

  • While Exercising

Micro-dosing THC can lead to increase in focus for a lot of people.

Added to the fact that while you’re working out your body produces endorphins creating a natural high, working out stoned only makes since.

  • Before Showering

I’m sure you’ve probably caught onto the running theme: the best time to smoke weed is anytime you want to relax.

Nothing is more relaxing than a hot show, or maybe even a bath with the lights off, candles lit and a nice bowl to relax more muscles.

  • While Watching a Movie

Watching a movie or binge watching anime on Crunchyroll, whatever your tastes may be, smoking weed makes it better.

When watching visual mediums high seems to help you fully dive head first into the experience.

Drama is more intense, and comedies become a potential health hazard to your ribs.

  • While You Read

Reading is the key to unleashing your imagination; smoking cannabis takes it to the next level.

Reading some good fiction while high can make you feel like you're living in the book.

Non-fiction can be a wild ride, too.

The trick is not to get stupid stoned—trust me, you’ll just have to keep re-reading sentences, and it will be now fun.

Just a little head change and your imagination will soar.

What is the Best Time to Smoke Weed in the Day?

It has to be 4:20, right?

AM or PM is irrelevant, just so long as the clock read 4-2-0.

If you’ve been smoking for any length of time, I’m sure you’ve heard the term.

Heck, we stoners have an entire day—a stoner holiday if you will—dedicated to it!

How did it find it’s way ingrained it our culture, though?

For years, I believed what every other stoner said it was “It’s a police code for smoking weed or something...”

The term comes from a group of 5 friends—known as the Waldos—that used the time 4:20 pm to meet up after school to go in search of a coast guard secret herb garden in the woods.

They never did find the weed, but somehow the term caught fire in cannabis culture and never looked back.

The Best Time to Smoke all Depends on What You’re Trying to Get Out of it!

Smoking just to smoke can get you in trouble.

If you smoke the wrong strain before work, your 2 pm crash could come closer to 9 am.

And unless you have nap booths at work, your day is going to suck.

Unless you live in a legal state or grow yourself, it will be hard to trust you know what strain you're smoking.

Since dealers seem to love to call every other strain, they get their hands on AK-47, Orange Kush or Northern Lights…

You’ll want to get your lungs on a good indica strain if you're looking to smoke before bed or a meal.

It will also help if you're dealing with some muscle aches after a long day of work or work out.

If you are trying to do anything that will require you to be alert or active, though, Sativa will serve you best.
